Apple’s First Computer Sells At Auction for $300,000

Apple 1 (a.k.a. Apple Computer 1) is the first desktop computer made by Apple Inc. (Apple Computer Company back then) in 1976. It was hand designed and built by Steve Wozniak, and the idea of selling the computer came from his friend, Steve Jobs. In order to pay for this creation, Steve Jobs had to sell his Volkswagen Microbus (He planned to use his bicycle if necessary), and Steve Wozniak had to sell his Calculator (HP-65) for 500$.

Guess What!Capture1

On the 20th of May, you could own one of these Vintage inventions in an auction made for one of the 8 known working original Apple 1 computers. It is estimated that the computer will be sold for between 180.000$ and 300.000$. According to ArsTechnica, the Apple 1 PC back in the days costed 670$, equivalent to 2.800$ nowadays.

That’s not it!

The Auction house (Auction Team Breker) behind the sale, added that in addition to its originality, the Apple 1 PC (Serial Number 01-0073) will be accompanied by the original manual, circuit diagrams, and notes of telephone calls made by Steve Wozniak in 1977.

To Wrap it up

The Apple 1 will take place in the “Auction of Firsts” which will also include the world’s first typewriter “Writing Ball” from 1867. It would be cool to own the first of about 200 Apple PCs handmade by Steve Wozniak in Steve Jobs’ Garage in Los Altos California in 1976.
