Monitoring your email
As an added security measure, it’s a good idea to keep an eye on the activity of your Gmail account.
To do this, open your Gmail account, scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the Details link in the bottom right of your screen, below last account activity.
This will open up a pop up window (Shown below) where you can see recent activity and whether your Gmail or Google Apps account is open in any other location. The list also shows the location of any authorized apps.
If you want to sign out of any open sessions, click the Sign out of all other web sessions button. This will ensure all your previous Gmail and Google Apps sessions are logged out, leaving you logged in to the current computer only.
Extra Gmail Tip:
It’s always useful to open an email in a new tab. Clicking Ctrl allows you to do just that. These are the Ctrl + clicks that open a new tab:
- Ctrl + Compose to compose an email in a new tab – no matter which compose window default you have switched on
- Ctrl + mouse click on an email in your inbox to open the email conversation in a new tab
- Ctrl + mouse click on the expand arrow icon in the top right of an open email
- Ctrl + mouse click on the expand arrow icon in the top right of an open chat window
Using Shift instead of Ctrl opens in a new window.
