Google Calendar now integrates with Apple Health and Google Fit!

v6

New Year’s resolutions are a lot easier to create than they are to keep. Luckily, Goals in Google Calendar is there to help you find time for the things that matter. Set a goal like “run 3 times a week,” and Calendar will help you find the time and stick to it.

Starting today, Google Calendar can be connected with both Google Fit and Apple Health, so you can track the progress of your fitness goals straight through your calendar. The app already had a feature that allowed it to automatically choose a convenient time for your workouts, based on your preference for type and frequency of the exercises, but up until now, your calendar had no way of knowing if you completed your workout or not.

This new integration with Google Fit and Apple Health allows Google Calendar to mark certain workout sessions as complete automatically, based on the data from your fitness app of choice. Additionally, Calendar will monitor your workout habits, so it better adjusts your schedule to them. For example, if you set up a calendar event for a morning run at 6:30, but you regularly start running half an hour later, Calendar will make sure to push that event a bit, so it’s an accurate representation of your habits.

Additionally, you can now track the progress towards your fitness goal straight from the Calendar, so you don’t have to use two separate apps while working out. Google believes that this will further motivate you to hit the gym and get that 100% completion of your weekly fitness goals.
